UPDATED 2/6/20

Due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak the dental practice has been closed. We are planning on reopening with a limited service initially for patients with urgent needs on Monday 8th June.

Because the pandemic has currently been declared by the UK government as “alert level 4” which indicates that the risk of transmission is still “severe”, we have been advised to begin face to face appointments only with patients who have urgent care needs. This means that patients who have booked routine appointments including check-ups and hygienist visits in June (or have already been postponed) will have their appointments rearranged hopefully for July.

We will therefore be limiting patient visits to the practice in June to those patients with emergency problems or patients whose treatment has been interrupted due to the pandemic.

The telephone lines in the practice will be answered from Monday 8th June however we would ask that if you are wanting to rebook your check up and hygienist appointment that you wait until we contact you which we will aim to do during June, or email reception during the first week of opening rather than phone us.

All patients with urgent dental needs are free to either call reception from Monday the 8th June or email reception@mossleydental.co.uk any time.

Please rest assured that upon reopening the practice will ensure that all patients are rebooked as soon as possible.

Our registered practice plan patients will still receive their correct number of check-up and hygiene appointments per year (albeit a little delayed). We will put on extra hygienist sessions in order that patients can book in as soon as the dental regulators tell us this is allowed which is likely to be when the pandemic is downgraded.

Patients currently undergoing orthodontic treatment and dental implant treatment: We will contact you to arrange your appointment. We are opening on Monday 8th June however we are not booking in review appointments on that day unless you are in pain in which case please do email us.

We are aiming to see all our patients needing a review appointment during June along with anybody whose treatment has been interrupted along with patients in pain or having problems.

Many measures are required in order to make the practice safe and meet health and safety standards.

Although a statement was released to the national press that dental practices are open from 8th June we have been advised by our regulatory body that many alterations to the running of the practice are necessary. For example, screens have been fitted at reception, we are to operate a closed door policy with one patient in the practice at a time, longer appointment times are required to meet the infection control standards during this phase of the pandemic. This means fewer patients can be seen per day. Some dental and orthodontic procedures which produce aerosol are advised to be delayed until the pandemic is downgraded because these pose a greater risk to transmitting the virus.

Those patients requiring treatment that is deemed higher risk whilst the pandemic is at alert level 4 may need to be delayed for a few more weeks.

All our patients will be seen. Our slow return to normal dental care will start on the 8th June.

PLEASE NOTE – if you have booked an appointment and have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms within the last 14 days, including a cough, fever or altered taste/smell OR if anyone in your household has suffered any of the above, please do cancel your appointment and DO NOT attend the practice.

We thank you for your understanding at this difficult time and look forward to welcoming everyone back to the practice as soon as we are able.

Please do share this message with your fellow patients.
