What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the world’s leading brand of clear aligners – a treatment to straighten your teeth and correct issues with your bite. Delivered and overseen by a registered dentist or orthodontist, Invisalign aligners can straighten your teeth in as little as 6 months. The aligners are made of a clear, flexible plastic; with a new one being inserted at home every 1-2 weeks. The Invisalign system has treated over 17 million smiles worldwide and is designed to be as discreet and comfortable as possible with minimal impact on your day-to-day life.

Advantages/Disadvantages
Advantages
- Discreet – Invisalign aligners can barely be seen at conversational distance
- Convenient – Aligners are taken out for eating and cleaning your teeth meaning minimal impact on your day-to-day life.
- Comfortable – Invisalign aligners are more comfortable than fixed braces – no brackets or wires are required
Disadvantages
- The success of Invisalign treatment depends almost completely on the patient wearing the aligners for at least 22h per day – if this advice is not followed well then the teeth will not move!

Yes! Aligners are taken out for eating and drinking and cleaning your teeth, but can also be removed for special occasions or playing sports/hobbies. It’s important to wear the aligners for at least 22h per day however
Being the most advanced clear aligner system in the world, Invisalign can be used to treat the majority of cases and is effective at treating nearly all common teeth straightening or bite issues . Invisalign is effective at moving existing dental work such as crowns, veneers or composite bonding and other work such as dental implants and bridges can be accommodated during treatment. Invisalign is also a great choice for people who have had previous treatment with traditional braces and have noticed some tooth movement (relapse) after treatment has been completed.
The treatment starts with a full assessment of your teeth and bite and discussion of all of your areas of concern. A digital scan of your teeth and photos are taken and all this information is used to create a Clincheck - a digital video showing how your teeth will move. Once you are happy with the planned changes to your teeth and bite the Invisalign aligners are ordered and are fitted a short time later by the dentist. Aligners are changed at home and you are reviewed every 4-10 weeks to check on progress. Once both you and the dentist are happy with result, retainers are made to wear at night to keep the teeth straight
After any form of orthodontic treatment (e.g. fixed braces or clear aligners) it is essential that retainers are worn to keep your teeth straight. At Mossley Dental Care retainers are factored into the treatment costs from the start to ensure your new smile stays looking its best.
