1) Child patients tend to opt for Damon braces. At present for teenagers it seems to be quite trendy to have metal type braces and most of our young patients are happy to go for this brace system because they are very quick and comfortable. They are low profile which means they do not irritate your lips very much. But the big bonus is that very often we don’t need to extract healthy teeth to create room. These braces can give you a beautiful wide/full smile due to the arch expansion that is achieved and research shows that people think that wider/fuller smiles are more attractive than narrow ones.
2) Most of our adult patients want invisible braces and they want quick treatment. That is why many of them opt for Six Month Smiles. Patients are coming to the practice from all around Manchester for these invisible braces including areas such as Hyde, Denton, Dukinfield and Stockport as they are just a short drive to Mossley. However, some of our adult patients don’t want fixed on braces (even if they are clear plastic and metal free) and so they go for either Invisalign or the Inman aligner.
3) About 10% of our patients want the brace to be fixed on so they dont need to worry about taking it in and out of their mouth but they want it to be completely invisible so nobody knows they have it on. These patients go for lingual braces which can work just as quickly as Six Month Smiles but are placed on the inside (tongue side) of the teeth.
