People often ask us how long orthodontic treatment takes. Depending on the severity of the case braces can take anything from about 3 months to two years but the majority of cases that I treat at Mossley Dental Care where we use clear fixed braces take about 6-9 months. I can never make absolute promises with regards to how long your treatment will take because everybody’s teeth move at a different rate. I always say it is better that we focus on getting you a great result rather than taking the braces off too soon. However, won’t treat you slowly and we tend to see you every few weeks during your treatment to ensure it progresses as planned but our first priority is quality results and second comes speed of treatment.

The other question that people often ask us is what age they can get braces at.  Firstly it is important to say there is no age limit to undergoing orthodontic treatment. The eldest patient I have treated at Mossley Dental Care was in her seventies and adult orthodontics is becoming more and more popular in the UK.  As long as your mouth is healthy and you have no active tooth decay or gum disease then you are suitable for this type of treatment. At the other end of the scale with children we tend to wait until the adult teeth are through before fitting braces although there are some exceptions to this.
