Some patients come to us because their teeth are crooked or spaced but another common complaint is that the upper front teeth stick out too much. There are a number of reasons that this can occur. It can be because of protruding upper front teeth or it can be due to a small lower jaw.
Depending on the diagnosis we can offer various treatment options using fixed and/or removable braces. Depending on the severity of the problem we may be able to tip the upper front teeth back in six months or less. We can use 6 Month braces or removable Inman aligners.
Because Middleton is a short drive from Mossley patients are coming for these treatments from Middleton and surrounding areas for a free initial consultation.
You will see Mr Winston at your first visit and he will explain what your options are.
Mr Winston has over a decade of experience and takes referrals from local dentists for orthodontic treatment.

We recently finished a clear braces treatment for a young girl from the Bamford area in Rochdale. She came to the practice in August last year with moderate crowding/overlapping of her teeth and was looking for a rapid result as she was getting married in March.
We are always up for a challenge at Mossley Dental and thanks to the rapid tooth movements that are possible with modern braces we were able to straighten her front teeth and then whiten them before she got married.
Her comment at the end of her treatment was “If I new this was going to be so easy I would have done it years ago!”
Mr Winston uses all of the popular brace systems so he is able to tell you what type of treatment would best fit your needs. Six Month Smiles treatment is often possible for crooked teeth and work very quickly. Lingual braces are also a great option if you want invisible braces and dont want anyone to know you are in treatment.
Orthodontics has come a long way in recent years and Mr Winston has stayed up to date with all the latest systems and is well placed to offer you a top quality service.

Mossley Dental Care caters for both adults and children who want straight teeth. Treatment options vary slightly between adults and children but there is no age limit to having your teeth straightening. Many patients come to the practice worried that it may be too late to have orthodontic treatment but we can reassure them that adult braces work very well and in Mr Winston’s hands we are achieving some great results using Six Month Smiles and other invisible braces systems.
A patient from Rochdale came to the practice last week looking for a great smile before her wedding day which was seven months away and we explained that we could give her the smile she always wanted using clear braces and it would take about six months. Of course she jumped at the chance and we are starting treatment next week.
Rochdale is only a short drive to Mossley and we have free parking around the practice so it makes it easy to get to the practice for your monthly appointments. Mr Winston treated over 100 six month braces cases last year and has a postgraduate master of science degree in orthodontics.
If you live in Rochdale we encourage you to come for a free consultation and we can show you the different brace types including invisalign, the inman aligner, 6 month braces, and Invisalign.

Patients are travelling to Mossley Dental Care to see Mr Winston because he has a postgraduate degree in orthodontics and is experienced in many different orthodontic appliance systems. Two of the most popular systems are Six Month Smiles or Invisalign.
Six Month Smiles is a fixed on brace which is made of clear materials so is not very noticeable and very discreet. Most of our adult patients dont want metal braces and so the clear ones are a great alternative.
On the other hand Invisalign of a transparent thin plastic “gum shield” which covers your teeth and can be taken in and out for eating and cleaning. It takes a little longer to work but is a bit less noticeable than six month braces.
Rochdale is only a short drive from Mossley and we encourage you to come in for a chat about these different types of braces. We offer great value for money and a high quality service.
Why not give us a try! You wont be disappointed. Mr Winston has a great reputation all around Oldham, Rochdale and Ashton Under Lyne.

Watson & Winston at Mossley Dental Care is a forward thinking practice with comfortable state of the art facilities and two highly skilled dentists. One area of expertise that we offer is orthodontics (braces). Mr Winston has over ten years of experience in orthodontics and has treated many hundreds of happy patients. One of the most common treatment approaches used at the practice are rapid invisible braces. These can be placed either on the outside surface of your teeth or if you want them to be completely invisible they can be placed on the back surface of your teeth. They work very quickly and since new year we have had many phone calls from patients from all over Oldham, Saddleworth and Ashton Under Lyne who are interested in six month braces, six month smiles, Invislalign, lingual braces or the Inman aligner.

Ten or more years ago a lot of people missed out seeing an orthodontist for dental braces. It is a real shame because a lot of people from Stalybridge come to Mossley Dental Care to see Mr Winston for tooth straightening treatments in their 20s, 30s and 40s and tell us that they wished they had had it done when they were younger.
A lot of these people worry that having treatment as an adult would be more difficult or take a long time but the reality is that the modern braces that Mr Winston uses can in many cases complete treatment in well under a year and sometimes even under six months. The braces we tend to use for adult orthodontics are clear. Not only are the brackets on each tooth clear but the wire is also tooth coloured and the visions you may have of old style metal train track braces are no longer the case.
Stalybridge is only a short drive from Mossley and may be very convenient for you as we offer flexible appointment times and there is plenty free parking around the practice. Our practice meets the standards set out by the British Dental Association Good Practice scheme and we believe we offer a high quality service and great value for money.
The point we are trying to make is that you are never too old to consider tooth straightening and to date our oldest patient with invisible braces was in her seventies. We offer a free initial visit and Mr Winston can tell you if you are a suitable candidate. Options include, Damon Clear braces, 6 month smile braces, Invisalign, The Inman aligner, and lingual braces.

Naturally, we would all like a perfect smile to boost our confidence and improve our quality of life. However, many people have reservations on regular orthodontic treatments, such as the metal ‘train track’ braces, that may be uncomfortable, unsightly and very slow to work, resulting in up to three years of misery and embarrassment in some people. Now, with revolutionary new breakthroughs, it is simple, quick and discreet to achieve that perfect smile with ‘Six Month Smiles’.
How does Six Month Smiles differ?
Six Month Smiles braces differ drastically from traditional orthodontic treatments; they are practically invisible so discretion is available for the patient. They are smooth and comfortable, which is appealing for anyone apprehensive of having a mouth full of metal. Unlike other clear aligners on the market – such as Invisalign and Simpli5 – these are attached with wires and brackets, which means you do not have to keep altering their position if they come loose, or keep removing them and putting them back in.
How does it work?
Your dentist will make a mould of your teeth to allow a 3D model to be crafted. Using this model, two trays are designed specifically for the alignment and structure of your teeth. These are then attached with dentist adhesive and wires (don’t worry, these are the colour of your teeth, so are barely noticeable too) to apply the right amount of pressure that will gradually rid you of your oral imperfections.
So, if you think Six Month Smiles might be for you, consult the team at Mossley Dental Care near Denton for a no obligation consultation. Your dentist appreciates that there are now a number of different techniques on the market to offer you your perfect smile, so can give you the best advice to suit your teeth.

Six Month Smiles is a modern treatment designed to fix imperfections in the alignment of the visible teeth. Crooked or overlapping teeth can be quickly altered and nobody but the patient need know! After a mould of your teeth is taken by your dentist, custom trays are crafted to suit your teeth. These are thin and clear to make the treatment basically invisible. The trays are attached with dentist adhesive and teeth-coloured wires and brackets for just the right amount of pressure to abolish your imperfections. With monthly check-ups and alterations, the treatment – as the name suggests – typically lasts around six months, though this may vary from four to nine months.
So, who are they suitable for?
Six Month Smiles are suitable for most people that want to alter the visible teeth at the front of their mouth. However, there are some key aspects to consider and consult your dentist about as to whether they are suitable for you:
- Age: Six Month Smiles are suitable for people of any age who have developed their permanent teeth, though it is more popular in older patients.
- Extent of work needed: Six Month Smiles are only suited to correcting minor problems; they cannot change the ‘bite’ of your teeth, so if you have more serious misalignment problems, other treatments may be more suited for you.
- Speed & Pain: Though they work much faster than ordinary braces, they are no more painful; any discomfort should be gone after the first 7-10 days, so don’t worry about half a year of toothache!

The famed escape artists Harry Houdini once said that ‘no performer should attempt to bite off red-hot iron unless he has a good set of teeth.’ If taken a little less literally, Houdini’s phrase becomes emblematic of what a great smile, and the confidence it brings, can do for you both in the daily grind and social situations. Sadly, many of us need such a boost quicker than the two to three years that conventional teeth straightening can take. Thankfully, dentistry has kept abreast of modern bustle and produced the 6 Month Smiles treatment.
Yes, provided you are suitable for treatment.
You won’t even need to wear conventional train-track braces for the six months. You will instead be fitted with small tooth coloured brackets and wires, which will only be visible up close.
Is there a catch?
Quell your suspicions, I will reveal all: Unlike children, who often require braces to fix bite problems caused by growth issues, most adults primarily request teeth straightening for cosmetic reasons. This often requires moving the front teeth without requiring any major alterations to the bite, which can shave off a significant amount of treatment time. The treatment uses new technical and technological developments, such as the special nickel titanium the wires are made of, to help adjust specific teeth. To top it all off, the treatment is also cheaper than conventional brace treatment.
The treatment itself
Assessment for suitability will take place during your first visit. This will involve the dentist taking some photographs, x-rays and examining your smile. You will then be fitted with the special braces, which will come directly from the 6 Month Smiles laboratory in the United States. Following your first fitting, you will then be required to visit your dentist every 4 or 5 weeks for a 10 to 15 minute check-up and adjustment until your treatment is complete.
If you need any more information on 6 Month Smiles please contact the practice. We provide services for patients throughout Droylsden and the UK.
